FAQ

Frequently asked questions

What does the MS24 All-Round Peace of Mind Package include?

We take care of every aspect of your engine failure: from the technical assessment and diagnosis, through to selecting the most cost-effective solution, right through to organising the repair or replacement of the engine, as well as its removal and refitting.

Motorschmiede24 will act as your main point of contact throughout the process, and you will receive a clear breakdown of costs before work begins.

Repair or replacement engine – what does Motorschmiede24 recommend?

We don’t make that decision on a blanket basis.

We assess the extent of the damage, the condition of the engine, the mileage, the cost of repairs and the cost-effectiveness. We then advise you on whether repairing the engine is the best option or whether a suitable replacement engine would be a better solution.

Our aim is not simply to sell you any old engine, but to find the technically and economically sensible solution for your vehicle.

What warranty do I get from Motorschmiede24?

Engines supplied by Motorschmiede24 GmbH are subject to the statutory rights in respect of defects and the provisions of our Terms and Conditions.

Private customers (consumers) are covered by a 2-year warranty. For business customers, the warranty period is 1 year.

The warranty terms applicable to your order are clearly set out in the quotation or order.

What are the terms and conditions of the warranty for a supplied engine?

We will provide you with all the important installation and warranty conditions, as well as the installation and test report. These specifications must be adhered to and documented by the specialist workshop carrying out the installation.

Important: The engine must not be opened, dismantled or modified without authorisation. If you encounter any problems, always contact Motorschmiede24 first. Work on the engine or opening it may only be carried out with our prior written authorisation.

What is not automatically covered by the warranty?

The warranty applies to the item purchased as specified in the contract.

Any accessories or wear parts supplied, such as seals, belts, tensioner pulleys or filters, may be excluded from the warranty as free extras.

The specific quotation, the contract and our terms and conditions are always decisive.

What should I do if a problem with the engine arises after installation?

Please submit your complaint directly to Motorschmiede24.

To do this, we will need, in particular, your order number, details of the engine, the current mileage, a description of the fault and proof of correct fitting.

We will then review the matter and discuss the next steps with you.

What happens after I make a complaint?

We will first check your details and documents.

In many cases, we then arrange for the engine to be collected for a technical inspection.

If a defect covered by the warranty is confirmed, the matter will be dealt with in accordance with the relevant statutory provisions and our Terms and Conditions.

If there’s a fault, will it be repaired or will I be given a different engine?

In the event of a valid defect, we shall either repair the item or provide a replacement in accordance with our Terms and Conditions.

The decision as to which solution is technically appropriate will be made following an inspection of the engine.

Can I have a faulty engine repaired at a different garage?

No, please do not arrange for any repairs yourself. If the issue is covered by the warranty, please contact Motorschmiede24 first.

We will investigate the matter and decide on the next steps. Motorschmiede24 will first be given the opportunity to rectify the issue and will determine how this is to be carried out. The engine must therefore not be opened, repaired or modified without our prior written authorisation.

Who carries out the engine overhaul and installation?

Intake, damage assessment, diagnosis and quality control take place on site at our premises in Dautphetal.

Reconditioning and installation are carried out by specialised partner workshops and engine reconditioners selected and coordinated by us.

Depending on the job, repair and workshop services may be carried out by legally independent partner companies.

Is Motorschmiede24 itself a car repair workshop?

At our location in Dautphetal we take in vehicles and engines, assess the damage, carry out the diagnosis and advise you personally on the most economically sensible solution.

The actual engine reconditioning and installation are carried out by vetted, specialised partner workshops – we manage quality and process throughout.

Will I be given a fixed price before I place an order?

Before the commissioned service begins, you will receive a clear breakdown of costs or a specific quotation.

This way, you’ll know before making your decision which services have been agreed and what costs you’ll incur.

Can further damage be detected after the diagnosis?

Yes. In the case of engine damage in particular, certain types of damage may only become apparent following a more thorough inspection or dismantling.

Should this result in any changes to the required scope of services, we will discuss the next steps with you.

Does Motorschmiede24 also organise transport?

Yes.

Depending on the solution chosen, we organise the logistics for the engine or vehicle and coordinate the process with our partners.

The specific services and costs are set out in the relevant quotation.

What happens to my old engine when I have it replaced?

Replacement engines may be subject to a return of used parts.

In this case, the used part must be returned in accordance with the agreed terms. The used part must, as a general rule, be repairable or capable of being reconditioned.

The specific terms and conditions regarding the return of old parts and any deposit are set out in your quotation and our terms and conditions.

Which documents should I make sure to keep?

Please ensure you keep, in particular, the quotation, the invoice from Motorschmiede24, the installation invoice from the specialist workshop, and any available test, installation and service records.

These documents enable us to carry out a swift and transparent investigation in the event of a complaint.

Does Motorschmiede24 also deliver to Switzerland or outside the EU?

Yes, depending on the destination country, we can also deliver engines to Switzerland and to countries outside the EU. We check on a case-by-case basis whether delivery is possible and what transport costs will apply before the order is placed.

Can I also have a motor delivered to the US or to another country outside Europe?

Generally speaking, yes. We arrange international deliveries on a case-by-case basis with you. Please contact us with your vehicle details, engine code and delivery address – we will then assess the options and provide you with a suitable quote.

Does the warranty still apply if the engine is fitted abroad?

Our installation and warranty terms apply regardless of whether the installation is carried out by a partner workshop or an external workshop. The key requirement is that the engine is installed by a qualified specialist workshop and that our installation and testing protocol is fully complied with and documented.

What happens in the event of a warranty claim if my vehicle is abroad?

If you encounter any problems, please always contact Motorschmiede24 first. We will investigate the matter and let you know how we intend to proceed. Please do not open, dismantle or repair the engine yourself. The engine may only be opened with our written authorisation.

Can my local garage repair a faulty engine?

Only following prior consultation and written authorisation from Motorschmiede24. Even in the case of longer distances, we will decide how the rectification is to be carried out after assessing the situation. Therefore, please do not arrange any repairs yourself.

Does my workshop need to comply with any specific requirements when operating abroad?

Yes. They will receive our installation and warranty terms and conditions from you, as well as the installation and test report. The required work and tests must be carried out in full and documented. This also includes the necessary supporting documents, such as the installation invoice, parts list, report, and the required photographs and videos.

Who bears the costs of transport, customs and import duties for international deliveries?

Transport costs, as well as any customs duties, taxes and import charges, depend on the destination country. We therefore agree the delivery and transport terms with you on a case-by-case basis before the order is placed.

Who bears the delivery costs in the event of a warranty claim?

As a general rule, the buyer is responsible for paying the postage and delivery costs. This applies regardless of location – within Germany, within the EU, and for deliveries to Switzerland, the USA or other countries outside the EU. Should it be necessary to return the engine, please arrange this with Motorschmiede24 in advance. We will let you know where and how the engine should be sent.
